A Brighter White, a memoir, tells the story of Constance Mulenga Mutale's struggles in life and triumphs. When she was young, she walked away from home to live a life that was totally different from her previous life and grew up to be a young daring woman. But before she could settle down, a bigger quarrel erupts which drives her even further away, this time out of her own country. Once she arrives in the strange country, she feels more at home and finds peace around her. She is more determined and convinces herself that she belongs to that country. She hides her true identity and talks nothing about where she is from, her real name, her family, nor anyone she knows. Constance was born on February 19, 1978, in Kitwe, Zambia. She is the first-born child in a family of five. She graduated in Kitwe at Helen Kaunda High School.
